Welcome to Sphere of Influence, a pre-FNM look at some potential movers and shakers that are worth picking up before their prices increase.

Happy Halloween! 'Tis the season for spooks and kooks, and this week's selection of cards delivers both in spades while remaining strong and affordable. Here are some Halloween-themed pick-ups worth adding to your list:

Noxious Ghoul - $2

Good lord, you need to give this one a shot in your Zombie kindred decks. A tiny handful of tokens can eliminate a player or two's entire army with very little effort, or shrink them down for a gigantic alpha strike. Playing this card feels like cheating.

Massacre Girl - $0.50

With even a modest amount of creatures on the battlefield, this card will completely wipe the board and get around indestructible. Massacre Girl represents the best board wipe attached to a creature, and thus makes for an excellent reanimation target.

Dollmaker's Shop // Porcelain Gallery - $3.50

Both sides of this card are relevant. The Shop triggers off any attack and makes some tiny artifact tokens, and the Gallery acts as a pseudo anthem effect to win the game. Even the tiniest Toy creatures will love this one. Try it over Cathars' Crusade: less math will be required.

Flesh Duplicate - $3.50

Sometimes, all you need is a single ETB effect, which Flesh Duplicate provides cheaply. Plus, vanishing 3 isn't too bad, as you'll receive at least two opportunities to attack with whatever you've copied, which should be enough to make a serious dent in the game. Grab this before Doctor Who becomes a distant memory.

Fecundity - $0.50

While this one operates symmetrically, odds are that your deck will benefit maximally from Fecundity. Heck, it triggers when tokens die, too. The card truly shines in decks trying to take one or two big turns.
