Anticausal Vestige | Art by Chase Stone

This week we saw the official start of the Star Trek preview season, which means that there's a lot of shifts about to take place in the secondary market. While we wait to see what those ups and downs may be, I wanted to showcase a few cards that could rise in price and playability thanks to that upcoming set, as well as one more that's been climbing thanks to a Reality Fracture commander.

So, join me Tyler 'Savesya' Bucks, as we jump into another edition of Sphere of Influence.

Serah Farron - $0.50

In this year of 2026, we've seen a massive influx of legendary creatures (mainly due to all the Universes Beyond sets), and we're about to see a whole lot more thanks to Star Trek. Serah Farron is a Standard-legal cost-reducer for that card type, which makes casting the key pieces of your game plan far easier. So, if we get several new powerful legends that become mainstays for a few decks, this Final Fantasy creature could begin to rise in price.

Anticausal Vestige - $2.50

Since we have more Spacecraft on the way, Anticausal Vestige may get another bump in popularity very soon. When Edge of Eternities hit shelves, this Eldrazi stood out among the other creatures from the set due to it being a way to get an extra card and cheat out a permanent, but there was even more upside to it than just that. The fact that it has seven power and can come down early thanks to that warp cost means that it can assist with stationing up a Planet or Spacecraft, like the U.S.S. Enterprise-D, Galaxy-Class.

Aerith Gainsborough - $2.25

Lifegain decks are on the rise, both in Commander and in Standard. Since that's the case, Aerith Gainsborough has started to catch the eye of players as a great value piece for that strategy. It grows with counters and can pass them along if she dies, plus that lifelink can pad your life total turn after turn. A cheap creature that scales with the game is always useful to have around, and the fact that it helps with gaining life whenever it attacks or blocks makes it a great turn three play.

Lunar Convocation - $1.75

Keeping the lifegain strategy in mind, let's wrap up today's list by looking at Lunar Convocation. This two-drop enchantment offers up a way to lower your opponents' life totals and create a Bat token on the endstep. Plus, it even gives you the option to draw a card for two mana and two life. All of these things work incredibly well with a new commander that continues to rise in popularity right now, Niv-Mizzet, Ghost Counsel. So, if that legend keeps being built around, more players will be stumbling on this rare from Bloomburrow.

Until Next Time

So, there you have it, four cards that may be rising in price and playability right now due to Magic's latest trends. As we continue to see more new cards from Star Trek over the coming weeks, I'll be keeping an eye on any archetypes that could be getting a boost thanks to that set. With that being said, please take care of yourselves, because I'd like to see you back here next time for another edition of Sphere of Influence.
