Wistfulness | Art by Jesper Ejsing

Well, the end of May is right around the corner, and we've seen a lot of cards make waves throughout this month. With plenty of players participating in RCQ's, and of course countless people constantly building Commander decks, there's been a large number of singles that have risen quickly over the past few weeks.

So, before June comes our way, let's jump into the Sphere of Influence and check out a few more cards that are currently on the rise in playability as well as price.

The Fire Crystal - $6

The cycle of mono-colored Crystals from the Final Fantasy set are incredible cards that fit into so many popular archetypes. So, it isn't too big of a surprise that The Fire Crystal is rising in price right now.

Lowering all your red spells, giving your creatures haste, and having a Heat Shimmer-like effect at your disposal is a powerful combination of abilities in one textbox.

Since this artifact works best in a mono-red deck, it might be time to put this card into your "Haves" list here on Cardsphere if you don't happen to have one of those in your arsenal right now.

Wistfulness - $10

Another awesome cycle in Standard currently is the evoke Elementals. Wistfulness is currently rising in price right now, and it's not too surprising. Pairing card advantage with removal for an artifact or enchantment is a very strong combination, especially on a 6/5 body.

Having the flexibility to cast it for two mana in order to choose one of those abilities, or spend the full five mana to keep the creature on the board and get both, means that you can utilize it in the early as well as the late game.

On top of all of that... It's a cute axolotl-thing! Who doesn't love that?

High Noon - $4

Here's an enchantment that's on the rise and I think I know why. High Noon is a Stax piece that stops everyone from playing more than one spell each turn, and it was pivotal in Zevin Faust's Azorius Control deck that got him in the top 8 of Pro Tour Secrets of Strixhaven.

Zevin was the only person piloting that version of the deck at the event, and I think its performance inspired a lot of players to give it a shot. So, it might be time to check your binders, because this bulk rare is on the rise.

Warden of the Grove - $3

This creature really wowed me back during the release of Tarkir: Dragonstorm. Warden of the Grove grows with counters as the game goes on, but also helps you either make tokens or buff up other creatures when they hit the board.

I believe this Hydra is going to continue to grow in price as more people realize just how much value it offers you. Plus, any blink deck that has green in it, such as a Commander list lead by Aang, at the Crossroads, will be able to capitalize off of all those tokens this card can make as your value creatures hit the board.

Until Next Time

Well, there you have it, my list of four cards that are on the rise in playability and value right now. If you are looking to pick up any of these, be sure to add them to your "Wants" list now, or maybe throw them onto your "Haves" if you're ready to trade them in for something else.

Until next time everyone, I'll see you in June!
