Fynn, the Fangbearer | Art by Lie Setiawan
It's almost time for Marvel Super Heroes to hit shelves, and after seeing the full set, there's a good chance we'll feel some shockwaves throughout Magic's most popular formats. Even though we're seeing some new mechanics in the set, there's still plenty of support for fan favorite strategies coming our way. Today, we're taking a look at four cards that could rise in value and playability, so be sure to keep them in mind when your adding singles to your Wants or Haves lists here on Cardsphere.
Devout Invocation - $2
Kicking things off today, we have a mythic from over a decade ago. Devout Invocation lets you tap your creatures in order to create Angels, which pairs perfectly with Captain America, Living Legend. This possible commander untaps your team, which works well with this big splashy white sorcery even more powerful, making a big board of flyers without leaving your defenses wide open. Since it only has one printing, there's a good chance this card can rise in price as this creature becomes more popular.
Fynn, the Fangbearer - $0.50
Another much anticipated legend from the Marvel set is actually a group of characters known as The Serpent Society. Their main goal is to fill the board with deathtouchers in order to drive forward damage and cause your opponents to sacrifice their creatures. Fynn, the Fangbearer is perfect to combine with these Villains, adding some more poison synergies to the mix. Plus, Fynn can come down the turn before you cast The Serpent Society, which makes for a great curve in a deck built around this strategy.
Krang, Master Mind - $2
As we look over the themes in the new Marvel Super Heroes set, a few of the main archetypes seem to be centered around artifacts. Krang, Master Mind is perfect to pair with those new cards, since it can be cast for as low as two mana, helps keep your hand from being too light, and could be a huge threat once your gameplan is online. Whether you're looking to add this to a Commander deck or working on a new Standard build, this TMNT legend could make for a great value player.
Mindspring Merfolk - $0.50
Another theme that could become a powerful strategy in Standard is a mono-blue Merfolk deck, with Namor the Sub-Mariner and Attuma, Atlantean Warlord hitting the format very soon, which means that Mindspring Merfolk would become a pivotal turn one play for that list. Getting it out early is useful for building a board presence, while also having the upside of refilling your hand and powering up your team in the late game. We will see if this strategy gains any momentum, because if it does, this little creature could become pretty sought after.
Until Next Time
Well, there you have it, four cards that may be rising in price and playability before the release of Marvel Super Heroes. Whether you're excited for this set or not, it's definitely shaping up to cause some shockwaves across multiple formats. If you're looking to pick a few of the singles from this list, or maybe trade them in for value, be sure to add them to your Wants or Haves right here on Cardsphere.
