Sphere of Influence: July 17th, 2026
Virtue of Knowledge | Art by Piotr Dura
While things are starting to really kick off over at MagicCon: Amsterdam, let's try to get ahead of the hype on today's edition of Sphere of Influence.
While I'm sure we're just hours away from seeing more from the upcoming Hobbit set, I'm still currently in the past and I'll be honest with you: I can't see into the future... however, I'm still looking to get ahead of any price spikes by showcasing a few great Adventure spells and support cards that could start rising in price and playability thanks to our return to Middle-earth.
So join me, Tyler 'Savesya' Bucks, as we go on a little adventure of our own by looking at some singles that you may consider adding to your Wants or Haves lists here on Cardsphere!
Lindblum, Industrial Regency - $2
Let's kick things off with a card that's currently in Standard and could be a good role-player if an Adventure-based deck starts to take off. Lindblum, Industrial Regency is a land as well as a spell that offers up a token that deals out damage when you cast noncreature spells. Having that ability on a land helps you keep up with the tempo of the game, whether you're looking for a land drop or a spell in that moment. Plus, the token-creating half of this card having the ability to be cast at instant speed helps with keeping your plans sneaky, since you can deploy it on an opponent's turn just to untap and play as your land drop.
Virtue of Knowledge - $4.50
All the Adventure enchantments in this cycle from Wilds of Eldraine have their own merits; however, I feel like Virtue of Knowledge has one of the highest ceilings when it comes to new sets. Not only can it copy an activated or triggered ability for only two mana, but it can also double up all your ETB (enter-the-battlefield) effects in the mid to late game, which has so many uses across different popular archetypes. Both of those options can put in a lot of work for the deck, so keep an eye on this one as more previews get released.
Lucky Clover - $0.25
Now I'll be honest: I'm not sure just how prevalent Adventures will be in this new set, but I will say that if it really is a major part of this release, Lucky Clover will certainly begin to rise in value. Spending only two mana to copy all the instant and sorcery versions of those spells is such a great rate and can get into play early enough to push your advantage forward as the game goes on. On top of that, it was only printed in its original set and on the List, so if people do start looking for this niche artifact, you may want to check your bulk for it now.
Like I said, that really only depends on how important the Adventure archetype is to the Hobbit set, which would benefit majorly from a new multicolor commander. However, if we don't get something like that next month, then I know of a few other options that people might be reaching for as a home for all their new Adventure cards.
Gorion, Wise Mentor & Lozhan, Dragons' Legacy - $0.50
Gorion, Wise Mentor and Lozhan, Dragons' Legacy both came to us in Commander Legends: Battle for Baldur's Gate, and both make for great leaders of an Adventure deck. Gorion rhymes a lot with the last entry on this list and gives you access to three useful colors for this archetype. Lozhan helps deal out a lot of burn damage around the table as you go through your gameplan, but it also triggers off of casting Dragons, so if we get a few more versions of Smaug from the set, this would also be a good home for all those big red flyers.
Until Next Time
Well, we made it to the end of Sphere of Influence: The Adventure Special. If you're currently residing in the future, where you know just how many Adventures they revealed at MagicCon, let me know in the comments below which one is your favorite. So, until I see you next week, be sure to stick close to your party, and don't put on any suspicious rings...
