Marvel’s Spider-Man Is Available To Trade
Spider-Suit | Art by Alex Horley-Orlandelli
Friendly neighborhood greetings and welcome to the Spider-Verse! The Cardsphere Team is pleased to announce that Marvel's Spider-Man is available to trade.
I'm John Sherwood, and this Universes Beyond release finds me somewhere between the Angry Rabble and Cheering Crowd. Heroes and villains are making the leap from pen-and-ink streets of New York City to the world's best card game.
You can find cards and sealed products from Marvel's Spider-Man (SPM), Spider-Man Eternal (SPE) and the Marvel Universe (MAR) bonus sheet here on Cardsphere!
"A soul...for a soul"
The Soul Stone is now within your reach. You won't have to throw anyone off a cliff to get one, although the borderless, textless, cosmic foil version might be expensive due to scarcity.
Fortunately, the card will be more plentiful in two other versions. One features the visage of The Mad Titan Thanos with his infamous Infinity Gauntlet. The other, with art by Volkan Baga, pays homage to Magic's Moxen. It's my favorite image in the entire set, and I hope we get more like this as future Marvel releases will certainly bring us the rest of the Infinity Stones.
Comic Book Art
Art from Spider-Man comics has been adapted from the original versions and reformatted to fit cardboard rectangles. Three mythic rares have classic comic art on both sides.
These three cards, and two others, are the first double-face cards that can be cast as a creature on either side. I'd love to know the reason Gwen Stacy and Norman Osborn didn't get the same classic comic treatment.
Another forty existing cards from Magic get reprints on the Marvel Universe (MAR) bonus sheet with Spider-Man source material illustrations. Spider-Man characters make appearances as reskins of legendary creatures, like Spider-Gwen, Web-Warrior as Najeela, the Blade-Blossom.
Meanwhile, there are dozens of other cards curated to match Magic card names with Spider-Man flavor.
Borderless
Four amazing borderless treatments pop with New York ambiance and comic book action.
Scene
Collector numbers 199 - 207 unite into a poster of Spider Heroes battling a motley crew of Villains. The whole scene fits in a standard nine-card binder page, but why stop there? Sleeve them into a single deck and chase the dream of assembling all these permanents onto one battlefield!

Web-Slingers
All of the borderless Web-Slingers feature Spider-Man's signature webs stretched from the edges of the card to the text boxes. Each Web-Slinger is a different Spider, including the arachnid that started it all: Radioactive Spider.
Panels
Traditional comic book layout translates surprisingly well to a Magic card frame. The borderless panel treatment is a perfect blend of visual story-telling and the components every Magic card needs.
The Sagas in this category are my pick for the best translation of comics to cards.
Textured Foil Costume Change
Most of the set is an exhibition of various spider-characters from different realities. Several printings of Spectacular Spider-Man present the same web-shooting pose in several different costumes. These are only in textured foil, distributed in very small numbers through Collector Boosters.
Extended Art
Swing out for a Spider's-eye-view of art from the regular draft prints. Occasionally extended art cards reveal details that get covered by the normal card frame. Spider-Verse (the card, not the setting) depicts several spiders swinging in to save the day.
The Spiders around the edges of the illustration are fully visible on the extended version.
Full-Art Lands
Spectacular artist Sarah Finnigan presents web-woven mana symbols super-imposed over cityscape backgrounds. These five basic lands are a tasteful tribute to Magic convention while truly representing Spider-Man's native New York City.
Everybody Gets One
I'm sure there's at least one card for everybody in Marvel's Spider-Man. Whether you're the Ultimate Spider-Fan, or a casual Spider-Enjoyer, this set is packed with fitting tributes to a character that has become a cultural touchstone. There's also a ton of innovative Magic design.
