Sphere of Influence: October 30rd, 2026
Losheel, Clockwork Scholar | Art by Daniel Zrom
The preview season for Star Trek is moving at warp speed right now, so it's important to get ahead of the trends as we see more and more new cards. With that in mind, I wanted to shine a spotlight on four cards that could start rising in price and playability thanks to the upcoming Commander precons associated with this set.
I'll be covering singles that'll most likely not show up in the 99s of those decks, because of one main reason: they have names belonging to other IPs. While we've seen a few "renamed" cards in the latest Marvel precons (like Loki's Double) that's usually a rare occurrence, meaning that these four examples I'll go over will likely get snatched up while players upgrade these new decks.
So, join me Tyler 'Savesya' Bucks, as we jump into another edition of Sphere of Influence.
Oracle of Mul Daya - $2.50
The Landing Party precon that's led by Commander Spock is focused on getting as many differently named lands in play as possible. Since that's the case, Oracle of Mul Daya will be sought after for that 99. Looking at the top of your library and being able to play additional lands can help super charge that deck. Also, since Spock can cast cards for free, having the ability to get lands out of the way can assist with cheating out bigger and splashier spells as the game goes on.
Losheel, Clockwork Scholar - $2.75
We Are the Borg is helmed by a super powerful legend known as The Borg Queen, who pumps artifact creatures and steals a creature from an opponent's library when she moves to combat. Losheel, Clockwork Scholar assists that plan by protecting your board when you attack, and gives you a new card when your key pieces enter the battlefield. Preventing damage and drawing cards is a lot of value for only three mana, so I feel like this Elephant could start rising in price once people get this precon in their hands.
Uthros Research Craft - $2
Jean-Luc Picard, Luminary leads the Federation Fleet deck, which's all about historic permanents. With that in mind, Uthros Research Craft will likely be a useful card advantage piece to pick up. Since this deck cares about Spacecraft and drawing your second card for the turn, people will likely be seeking out this single from the Edge of Eternities Counter Intelligence Commander deck. It not only provides a lot of value, but it can also help with closing out a game thanks to the fact that this Spacecraft could be a massive threat in the air once it's fully stationed up.
Iraxxa, Empress of Mars - $1
The Klingon Fury deck has Worf, Defiant Commander in charge of the list, bringing you tokens and a cast from exile subtheme, which reminded me of Iraxxa, Empress of Mars who came from the Doctor Who set, since that legend can provide you with even more tokens when you cast things from exile. Having both the commander of this deck and Iraxxa in play will be a solid value engine that'll keep your board wide, as you cast the spells you've gained access to for sending creatures into combat. Star Trek and Doctor Who: now that's a cross-over episode that would've been wild to see!
Until Next Time
So, there you have it, four cards that could start rising in price and playability thanks to these new Star Trek precons. If you're thinking of picking any of these up, now might be the time to add them to your Wants list here on Cardsphere. Also, if you have any of these in your collection, be sure to add them to your Haves list as well, in order to help your fellow players upgrade these new decks!
That's it for me today, so do me a favor and take care of yourselves, because I'd like to see you here next week for another edition of Sphere of Influence.
