Beyond the Quiet | Art by Yohann Schepacz

Reality Fracture is now in the rear-view mirror, which means that the final frontier is rising up over the horizon. Star Trek is less than a month away, so in this edition of Sphere of Influence, we'll be looking at a few cards that could start rising in price and playability thanks to that upcoming set; plus, we'll be looking at one card that's perfect for bringing nautical nonsense to the battlefield. So join me Tyler 'Savesya' Bucks, as we get ready to be beamed up to another universe beyond.

Inspirit, Flagship Vessel - $2

Since Star Trek will bring along several new Spacecraft to Magic, Commander players will likely be looking to pick up Inspirit, Flagship Vessel since it's a powerful enhancer for that card type. This precon legend can speed up the stationing process and even eventually protect the key pieces on your board. Keep an eye on the possible commanders being revealed in this set, because if we get a few popular legends that care about Spacecraft, cards that add charge counters will be very sought after.

Beyond the Quiet - $0.50

Standard-legal exile board wipes will always be useful to have around, since they offer up a way to totally stop someone's entire game plan. Beyond the Quiet provides that interaction, while also dealing with Spacecraft as well. We've already seen the U.S.S. Enterprise-D, Galaxy-Class, which is a card advantage engine on a large flyer with vigilance, and I'm sure we'll be getting a look of several more powerful Spacecraft that people will need answers for once the set is released.

Loading Zone - $1.50

Decks that're centered around counters have always been popular, which is why doublers, like Loading Zone, have been mainstays for that strategy. This enchantment having warp and doubling charge counters for Spacecraft and Planets brings a whole lot of upside to a single textbox. We've gotten a glimpse at the upcoming legend Captain Kirk, Boldly Going, who cares about Spacecrafts, and has green in his color identity, making Loading Zone perfect for the 99 of a deck led by this commander.

Summon: Leviathan - $1.75

So far today, we've been looking towards Star Trek, but I wanted to gaze even further into the future towards Nauctis: The Sunken City. That set is centered around sea creatures, which makes me think that Summon: Leviathan will be a go-to top end piece for plenty of new decks being brewed once it's released. Not only does it sweep away creatures who aren't oceanic in nature, but it also can help with refilling your hand when you send your team into combat.

Until Next Time

I hope you enjoyed this look towards the future, while we're in the middle ground between sets. Keep an eye on those Star Trek spoilers, because it may cause several singles from Edge of Eternities to start rising in value. If you opened a lot of packs from that set, or even picked up one of the precons, it may be time to sort some of your bulk. With all that being said, please take care of yourselves out there, because I want to see you here next week for another edition of Sphere of Influence.
