Sphere of Influence: October 2nd, 2026
Weftstalker Ardent | Art by Valera Lutfullina
It's the official release day of Reality Fracture; however, many players already have these new cards in their hands thanks to last weekend's prerelease events. A lot of people are excited to brew with these fresh designs, which means that there's going to be a few singles that'll start to rise in price and playability as time goes on, so join me, Tyler 'Savesya' Bucks, as we jump into the Sphere of Influence, in order to stay ahead of those trends!
Oath of Teferi - $1
Over the past several days, Tam, the Possibility has ascended to the top EDHREC as the most built commander from Reality Fracture so far. Since we're about to see a lot more planeswalkers in that format, we could see a rise in the price of Oath of Teferi. This enchantment not only resets a walker's loyalty counters by blinking it, but it also allows you to activate those abilities twice a turn instead of just once. That's the sort of power that can help players take over the game faster than the table is ready for.
Weftstalker Ardent - $2
Let's keep Commander on our minds and add a little bit of Standard to the mix as well. Aerid Konstrari and other red green cards from this new set make those Heartwood tokens, which Weftstalker Ardent loves seeing hit play. Whether your deck has 60 or 100 cards, dealing damage for simply deploying your key pieces is always a good gameplan. If we see the Konstrari cards from Reality Fracture become playable in multiple formats, this Drix may become very sought after.
Ripples of Potential - $3.50
As previously mentioned, planewalkers are having a moment right now, which is why a lot of players have been looking to pick up Ripples of Potential. Not only is this a cheap protection spell, but it could just steal a game for you. If someone is overextending themselves in order to remove your planeswalkers, phasing them out after adding a counter to each of them could just be the trick that pushes you towards a win.
Baleful Strix - $5.50
Finally, let's take a look at Baleful Strix, which has already been rising in price thanks to it becoming legal in Pauper. I've seen some chatter online about the empower Jace mechanic, as seen on cards like Mindseeker Oculus, possibly making some waves in that format. There are eleven cards at common that make that planeswalker token, so there's a chance that this deck sees some play. Having a cheap flyer with deathtouch that gives you a replacement card like Strix is perfect for protecting your strategy as early as turn two.
Until Next Time
There you have it, four cards that could start rising in price after the release of Reality Fracture. If you've been playing with this new set, I hope you've been having a good time with it. We've seen an influx of some pretty wild designs, so I wouldn't be surprised if there's even more cards that'll spike out of nowhere thanks to some newfound interaction. With that in mind, I'll see you back here next week for another edition of Sphere of Influence, so we can stay ahead of those trends together!
