Sphere of Influence: July 24th, 2026

With all the reveals from MagicCon: Amsterdam in the rear-view mirror, it's time to look ahead in order to try and catch a few cards that might start rising in price and playability. During the The Hobbit panel, we got a peek at the themes and creature types that this set will be centered around, which's what informed the picks on this list today.

My name is Tyler 'Savesya' Bucks, and it's time to dive into the Sphere of Influence again in order to look at a few cards that are rising in price and playability right now!

The Council of Four - $2

Not only does The Council of Four work well with the new commander Bard, King of Dale, but they also synergize with the white/blue "draw your second card" archetype that'll be found in the The Hobbit set. This fearsome foursome puts in a lot of work during a game of Commander, so as more people brew with cards from this set, they might start looking to snatch up a copy of this legendary creature for themselves.

Marwyn, the Nurturer - $4

At MagicCon: Amsterdam we got our first look at Thranduil, the Elvenking, which immediately made me think about great Elves, like Marwyn, the Nurturer. Since Thranduil loves both legends and activated abilities, many players building around this commander are likely going to want to add Marwyn to their Wants lists here on Cardsphere. So, if you have one in a binder, now might be the time to go dig it out!

Kaza, Roil Chaser $0.50

Next up, we're taking a look at Kaza, Roil Chaser, who acts as a mana dork that scales with the game as more and more Wizards hit play. Getting legendary creatures of that type on the board and cheating on the cost of spells is just what the new Gandalf, Party Guest from the Hobbit scene box is looking for, so when you have both of these Wizards in play, you could be casting an instant or sorcery for free, while also following it up with another spell that has a big reduction thanks to Kaza!

Tataru Taru - $8.50

While Tataru Taru is already pretty pricey, I think that value is going to continue to increase over the coming weeks. Not only is she becoming more playable in cEDH, but she also has one small detail that many people might overlook: that Dwarf creature type. So, as more decks get brewed around the Dwarven armies of Middle-earth, she'll fit right in by bringing even more Treasure token generation to the mix!
