Viridian Longbow | by Jeremy Jarvis

The Super Heroes from Marvel have flown, swung, and ran their way into our favorite Magic formats, causing quite the ripple effect since it hit those shelves. Whether you're a Commander player, or Standard grinder, these comic book characters will definitely make an impact on the value of some of the cards in our collections.

So, with all of that in mind, let's jump into the Sphere of Influence in order to take a look at a few of the cards that could be rising in price and playability after this recent Universes Beyond set!

Venom, Eddie Brock - $11

Let's kick things off today with a Villain support card that'll help with all the new baddies we got in Marvel Super Heroes. Venom, Eddie Brock grows with counters as creatures die, and if they happen to have that Villain type, you'll draw a card. If people are looking to build around one of their favorite evil characters, then this legend will make for a great top end for that deck, since it could help keep people's hands full while providing a large creature with menace to help drive through damage.

Viridian Longbow - $2

One of the most popular commanders that has hit the scene from this latest set is the The Serpent Society, which is all about filling your board with deathtouch creatures. Viridian Longbow assists with that gameplan, since you can equip it to a member of your team, allowing it to be tapped and take out a pivotal piece on an opponent's board. While this common might seem narrow, it's getting its time to shine thanks to this new legend.

The Wind Crystal - $8

The lifegain archetype is always going to be popular since it helps build up your defenses while synergizing with a myriad of popular cards. The Wind Crystal lowers the cost of white spells, doubles your lifegain, and could give your board evasion and lifelink, which are all powerful effects to staple onto a single artifact. Since we got several new lifegain-matters cards in Marvel Super Heroes, this Crystal might start rising in price as new decks get brewed.

Gut Shot - $5

Currently, the most built around commander coming out of this latest set is none other than Bruce Banner, which can bring you extra combats after that back half gets dealt damage. Since that's the case, Gut Shot could begin rising in value since it's a "free" way to hand out a single point of damage, which leads to a world of hurt for your opponents. If you happen to have one of these sitting in your collection, it'll be sure to make you happy while The Hulk gets angry... I think that analogy works.

Until Next Time

So, there you have it, four cards that are rising in playability and price right now. Marvel Super Heroes has truly caused some shakeups for a few classic and newer cards with niche effects, so it might be time to take a look at your binders again. Whether you have one of these in your collection, or you want to pick one of them up, be sure to add them to your "Wants" or "Haves" lists here on CardSphere!
