15 Most Valuable Sliver Cards
Galerider Sliver | art by James Zapata
The Sliver creature type was first introduced in Tempest, and, with their debut, Magic was never the same. These strange, hive-minded creatures favored the Xenomorph from Alien, something that the world of Magic had not seen up to that point in the game’s history.
Even still, whenever Slivers appear in Magic, longtime fans perk up, as their ability to synergize with ease and snowball out of control quickly means they’re always a fun type to play with.
But what are the most valuable Slivers of all time? 115 cards boast the Sliver creature type with a bonus four dealing with Sliver cards but not boasting the type (for you completionists, that’s Hivestone, Sliver Hive, Sliversmith, and Thrumming Hivepool). Let’s dive in.
15. Sliver Gravemother (Extended Art) – Commander Masters
Market Price: $23.53
The face card for the Sliver Swarm Commander Masters preconstructed Commander deck also happens to kick off our list in its extended art format, originally only available in Collector Boosters.
14. Crystalline Sliver – Friday Night Magic 2003
Market Price: $24.55
This Azorius () Sliver was part of the first-ever multicolored cycle of Slivers from Stronghold, but this version was slated to be released as a prize for Friday Night Magic participants, though that release never occurred due to a partial theft of the supply, per Wizards of the Coast.
13. Virulent Sliver (Extended Art/Step-and-Compleat Foil) – Showcase: All Will Be One Step-And-Compleat Edition Secret Lair Drop
Market Price: $33.92
Originally from 2007’s Future Sight set, this rendition of the poison counter-producing one-mana green Sliv’ is actually a bonus card from an All Will Be One-themed Secret Lair Drop.
12. Striking Sliver – Surprise Slivers Secret Lair Bonus Sheet
Market Price: $45.50
Many of the cards on this list were delivered via the Surprise Slivers bonus sheet, which could be found in select releases in the Secret Lair Drop Series: Fall Superdrop 2023.
The first of these cards is this reprint of a common red Sliver originally found in Magic 2014 that shows a Sliv’ that looks almost identical to the Yautja from the Predator franchise.
11. Sliver Overlord – Premium Deck Series: Slivers
Market Price: $53.03
The second-ever WUBRG legendary Sliver in Magic history, this 7/7 beater hails from Scourge and boasts a Sliver tutoring ability as well as the ability to gain control of target Sliv. Beyond that, it is home to a number of infinite combos involving its tutoring ability:
10. Galerider Sliver – Surprise Slivers Secret Lair Bonus Sheet
Market Price: $56.62
All of the Slivers from the Surprise Slivers bonus sheet boast beautiful extended art frames as well as a foil finish, meaning that these extra-rare cards already boast the standard markers for a “premium” Magic card. Combine those elements with the fact that Slivers are featured, and it’s no surprise to see these cards boast such high price points.
9. The First Sliver – Now on VHS! Secret Lair Drop
Market Price: $64.37
Currently the penultimate five-color Sliver legend released by WotC is The First Sliver, which first appeared in 2019’s Modern Horizons and helps you chain multiple Sliver spells in a row thanks to giving all your Sliver spells cascade.
This variant of the card came courtesy of 2023’s Now on VHS! Secret Lair Drop, which is a beautiful card for anyone raised in the ‘90s.
8. Bonescythe Sliver – Surprise Slivers Secret Lair Bonus Sheet
Market Price: $67.74
Arguably the coolest name for a Sliver creature, this four-mana white Sliv’ (originally from Magic 2014) punches well above its weight by giving all of your Slivers double strike, essentially doubling the damage they deal and giving both first strike and “normal strike.”
7. Constricting Sliver – Surprise Slivers Secret Lair Bonus Sheet
Market Price: $68.44
Another extended art Sliv’ from the Surprise Slivers bonus sheet, this six-mana white creature originally hails from Magic 2015, in which its art featured the more humanoid “prime Slivers” from this era.
A new artwork by Loïc Canavaggia was produced in 2023 for Commander Masters with a more “standard” look for this powerhouse Sliv’. Much better.
6. Blur Sliver – Surprise Slivers Secret Lair Bonus Sheet
Market Price: $91.81
Another dope bonus sheet Sliv’, this three-mana, haste-granting Sliver was first printed in Magic 2014 at common. While there are stronger haste-enabling Slivers, Blur Sliver does deliver this fun Sliver-themed infinite combo:
4. Gemhide Sliver – Surprise Slivers Secret Lair Bonus Sheet
Market Price: $101.50
Something that longtime Sliv’ players were missing in the early days of the type was mana fixing. Playing with Slivers was amazing, but the fact that to truly play them at their best, you needed access to all five colors, proved rather difficult in the “old days.”
Enter this amazing Sliver from 2006’s Time Spiral, which allowed you to turn each of your Slivers into a Birds of Paradise – just what the creature type needed.
4. Quick Sliver – Surprise Slivers Secret Lair Bonus Sheet
Market Price: $149.85
2003’s Legions, from the Onslaught block, produced a number of memorable Slivers including this two-mana green one that grants all Sliver cards (not just your own) the flash keyword.
Some Slivers were rarer than others on Surprise Slivers bonus sheet, with Quick Sliver being among the rarest.
3. Sliver Hive – Surprise Slivers Secret Lair Bonus Sheet
Market Price: $169.63
The only noncreature card on this list is every Sliver player’s favorite land, seeing as it gives you a pain-free Mana Confluence for playing Slivers as well as serves as an “in-case-of-emergency” way to produce more Slivers with its non-mana-producing activated ability.
2. Sliver Legion – Judge Gift Cards 2019
Market Price: $173.85
The third legendary five-color Sliver creature produced chronologically was first released in 2007’s Future Sight set and then not reprinted until this version was released as a Judge Gift card in 2019 with unique artwork from Lius Lasahido.
Though a 2025 Secret Lair reprint of this 7/7 Sliver brought the overall price down for the card, this version retains a lofty price tag due to its supreme rarity.
1. Sliver Queen – Stronghold
Market Price: $295.29
The most valuable Sliver card of all time also happens to be the first legendary Sliver ever (as well as the first card with a casting cost).
The Queen created the five-color Sliver legend archetype, which has been returned to multiple times over the years by WotC, but they perhaps never improved upon that template since its inception.
This gorgeous piece of cardboard remains a hugely expensive one to obtain nearly 30 years after it was released thanks to its scarcity, the novelty of it being the first legendary Sliv’, as well as its iconic Ron Spencer artwork.
Beyond being the most valuable Sliver card ever, Sliver Queen remains the second-most valuable card from Stronghold behind only a literal Mox that can tap for any color of mana.
Sliv’ Long and Prosper
If you couldn’t tell, this writer is a huge Sliver fan (and not just the Nirvana song of the same name). While Edge of Eternities delivered a fun piece of Sliver tech in Thrumming Hivepool, I crave more Sliver creatures in future sets. Perhaps the upcoming multiverse-spanning set Reality Fracture will give us at least one new Sliver creature? Only time will tell. Until then, we’re all just Slivin’ on a prayer.
